Cycle the Alps is a small company offering the ultimate cycling adventures in the Alps.
These are not your average cycle tours. In fact, the trips are more like training camps than tours. We combine the luxuries of typical European bike tours such as gourmet food, nice hotels, and excellent road support with challenging routes for strong riders. Throughout the rides we will give you tips on how to make the most of the time on your bike. We work on group riding, descending skills, and strength in climbing. Our small team is dedicated to providing you with a high-quality cycling vacation. Here is a little bit more about us...
Miles Smart is an UIAGM mountain guide and avid cyclist. He has placed well in long cyclosportive races in Europe including the Etape du Tour and the Haute Route, a grueling 7-day stage race from Geneva to Nice. He loves sharing his passion for days in the mountains with his guests. His favorite thing in cycling is sharing these long, supported, point-to-point rides with friends. “It is simply amazing how much ground you can cover on a bike, traversing an entire mountain range for example in a matter of hours, every day ending in a different village,” says Miles. In the winter months, Miles guides skiers on the adventurous terrain around Chamonix and around the world. During the brief periods when Miles is not on his bike in the summer, he is guiding guests up the granite rock spires around Chamonix. In 2004, he was the recipient of the AMGA Guide of the Year award. Outside of Miles’ professional guiding career, his exploits in climbing and skiing included setting many speed climbing records on the big walls of Yosemite and completing steep skiing descents in the Alps and around the world.
Liz Oakes Smart is an UIAGM mountain guide and a dedicated cyclist. She has finished 10th in the Etape du Tour and has also had good results in other races in the Alps including the Haute Route, a 7-day stage race from Geneva to Nice. Liz loves sharing her passion for road biking. She grew up in Aspen, Colorado and has traveled the world in search of all types of mountain adventures. Liz is most at home on skis having completed many steep ski descents in the Alps and North America.
Max Taam is a pro mountain biker and elite amateur road cyclist. If you race in Colorado you have probably run into Max at events like the Leadville 100 and the Power of Four. Max is also a cycling coach and runs a coaching business out of Aspen, CO. He is an accomplished skier and has recently placed 10th in the team race at the Ski Mountaineering World Championships in France (best American team).
